Route

Only when you set yourself a target you can start planning how to get there. But a plan is always still a plan and subject to change. Especially on such a long trip. That’s why I consider it more as a rough orientation. In total my plan adds up to roughly 30.000 km and more than 400.000 meter climbing. I’ve not always chosen for the easiest route between point A and B. To see the Maya pyramids or the ruins of Machu Picchu I have to take considerable detours. Therefore it’s possible that I might have to cut out certain highlights which are off track if don’t progress as planned. And of course I also want to stay flexible to other traveler’s suggestions and might add new places to my route I don’t yet know of.

From now on you can follow my progress on this site and see the places that I’ve already visited. I also tried to integrate the planned route but somehow my GPX files I created months ago are not readable anymore. I hope to solve this problem shortly.
The map has separate layers per country I’ve visited with indication of the type of places I stayed at (see legend at the right). To activate the several layers just click on the icon in the top left corner of the map.
